The software VNoise is implemented in the development process of various exhaust systems within Faurecia Tech Centers.
STS has provided a responsive and high-quality support during the tool integration into our development workflow.
STS has demonstrated its capacity to accompany Faurecia in providing a radiated noise tool dedicated to exhaust system components: muffler, resonator, manifold...
Predictions are accurate and the software is quite easy to handle for a NVH engineer.
VNoise can model any kind of 3D systems: internal or external acoustic modeling, fluid-structure coupling... Perforated baffles and pipes transfer matrixes are also taken into account in VNoise.
We also cooperate with STS to develop other acoustic simulation tools.

In a Join activity with Dutch Aerospace and STS, a rndom vibroacoustic analysis of the Plank Solar Array has been conducted using VNoise.
The Plank Solar Array consists of five panels, 1 circular shaped "Internal Solar Array" panel, and four segments composing the "External Solar Array" which are quadrant-shaped panels. All solar panels are made of a sandwich construction with Carbon Fibre Reinforced Plastic skins and an All-alloy honeycomb to provide an attractive mass and stiffness performance.
Structural modes have been given as an input to VNoise that used a fully coupled approach to evaluate responses.
A diffuse acoustic field was applied as a source, using a superimposition of several plane waves and the technique of principal component analysis.
Power spectral Densities (PSD) and overall RMS values have been obtained for acoustic and vibration quantities and compared with experiments, obtaining very good agreement.

At HGC Engineering, we have used other
acoustical boundary element packages in the past, but were very pleased with
the advent of VNoise, and we were eager to change to the VNoise platform. We
have found VNoise to be an extremely powerful tool for analyzing complicated acoustical
problems. In many respects, we find VNoise to provide more functionality computational
power than other Boundary Element software packages, particularly in regard to post
processing -- such as automated calculation of four-pole parameters and
straightforward graphical presentation of results. It is also very easy to
copy the calculation results from the VNoise environment into other programs,
such as Excel. Given the relatively modest price, the developers at STS have
packed a truly remarkable level of functionality and analysis power into the VNoise
package. |

| We are using VNoise for coupled fluid-structure analyses and we appreciate the way in which VNoise permits to exchange data from fluid and structural meshes without the need of having them coincident. The computational times are very good for us, and the use of VNoise cluster permits to further reduce them using several PC together. |

In 2007 I chose VNoise because of its value/price ratio after researching several acoustic software in the market. My experience with VNoise was excellent. I was particularly impressed by the technical support from Ing. Paolo di Francescantonio, the head of SW development. |
